Chaitsy
DJ & Music Curator — Lisbon
Bio
Chaitsy is a DJ and music curator based in Lisbon. He doesn’t just play records — he designs nights: the curation, the atmosphere, the full arc of an event from first track to last.
The foundation was laid in London, where he was part of UP, a club night at The Rhythm Factory on Whitechapel Road — two rooms, running monthly until five in the morning, with themed one-offs like UP Yours, Mardi Gras and Burning Up. The music press took notice: one listings writer counted UP among the top seven clubs in the country.
UP taught the lesson that stuck: a night is built, not booked. The rooms, the line-ups, the sound, the artwork, the pacing — none of it is an accident, and all of it is felt on the dancefloor.
His sound is a mix of deep house and electronic, rooted in ’90s classics, old Chicago house, and the London club sound of the 2000s. DTPM was the education: first on West Central Street, later at Fabric on Charterhouse Street, where the music of Armand van Helden and Faithless filled the room and Smokin Jo and her peers worked the decks. That’s the lineage his own sets still draw on.
Now in Lisbon, he brings that same approach to house music with a story — sets that read the room and build, rather than broadcast.
